Everyday is Halloween!

We had fun at the Everyday is Halloween Party at the Vogue on Saturday. After traipsing around all day in Victorian garb for the steamrats train trip, [info]helix90 wasn't up for dressing up, but I of course could not resist. I decided on a new variation of my Queen of Hearts since it would take no explanation. I'm not sure I'm happy with how the make up came out, but I think it worked overall. The night started out slow, but it was quite crowded towards the end of the night. I had the extreme misfortune of being the first contestant. One of the judges told me afterwards that I had very high marks and they loved my outfit, but that did hurt me, as the audience wasn't warmed up yet. All the winners were couples. A couple wearing almost nothing but Starbucks aprons won for their "Naked Baristas". They could have benefited from [info]helix90's much better title of "Bare-istas". The couple as Death and Dream were good. I was not impressed by Marie Antoinette and her Musketeer. I told the judges that I feel the audience participation portion of the vote, was really pointless. It generally means you have the most friends, not the best costume. At least they didn't make us dance.

A couple more pics. I didn't take very many this time.

Last night [info]swordgrrl wanted to go to the Vogue. She was feeling bouncy. I was not feeling bouncy, but figured I could use a night out. It turned out to be a very nice night. I wore my long PVC guazy coat and lots of fishnet and stompy boots. Buckles were very dangerous near this outfit. I got to see a bunch of people that I rarely see, including [info]amare, [info]izzbot, [info]dporowski [info]hadaverde, and Patrick. The music was good and although we leaned on the stage and had to swerve for traffic now and then we managed to have some good conversations. Raven and Deirdre showed up and told us about Radcon. That’s how I found out that Radcon is run by dips who don’t bother to inform their guests that they are invited. Heavy sigh. Not that I really wanted to go this year, but it would be nice to make informed decisions. It felt a little surreal to dance to “Rio” in the midst of fetish night, and the original version of “Barbie Girl” is much better than the later one, but despite a crowded dance floor we managed to dance. It was a fun night and I was quite surprised when the lights came on. How did it get so late? I didn’t even suffer much today for the late night. Full moon, must be it.
