The Abney Park show on Sunday was phenomenal as usual. Great show! Great acts! Many wonderfully dressed up people! [info]helix90 and I helped with the merchandise table, and talked up Steamcon to everyone. I was very remiss in getting photos of all the wonderful attire, but it was a very small venue and I selfishly watched almost all of the concert for once. I did get a few pics of the band. The rest of my pics are here.

If you have pictures from the show, please upload them to Flickr and add them to the group, Fans of Abney Park.

Do you ever feel like you are looking in all the wrong places for steampunk attire?
Well, a bunch of us are purging our closets and you can reap the benefits!
Clothing, jewelry, shoes, crafts and more will be for sale or possibly even barter.

On Saturday July 11th at the All Pilgrim’s Church (lower level) we will be holding a Steampunk swapmeet/jumble/garage sale/ flea market thingy. It is the unifying theme for this event, but not a strict parameter. We are sort of time traveling sales folk, which also fits the genre, don’t you think?

July 11th

All Pilgrim’s Church (lower level), 500 Broadway E, Seattle, WA 98102.

Noon to 6:00 PM.

Admission is free.

(All the selling spaces are sold out, so no more inquiries please)

(Apologies for cross posting)

It was a busy steampunk weekend for us. I took a few pictures. Some from the Steampunk Soiree and a few at the Clang Bang Cabaret.

Tonight I'm working on my airship pirate outfit for the Abney Park Show on Friday night. I had an idea, but so far it wasn't working quite right. Today I got a couple of things in the mail that I got on clearance from Forever 21, a place that almost never has anything that fits me. Bingo! It's now a much more coordinated ensemble... well as coordinated as airship pirates ever get. Yay! Now I just have to figure out what to wear on Saturday night to the Clang Bang Cabaret.

I had a wonderful weekend sitting part of a table at Emerald City Comicon, thanks to a kind offer from [info]winterjaye. I sold a little art, got lots of wonderful and encouraging compliments on my art, and promoted Steamcon. I even went ahead and signed up for my own table in artists’ alley next year. I took a few pics of some of the steamfolk who came by and some other good costumes. You can see them all here.
We were near a table that had a huge contingent of booth bunnies who were literally dressed as bunnies in black vinyl. Every now and then they would block the aisle for a photo opportunity and I kept saying that we really needed to do that too. When a cute brunette in goggles came up to the table and admired Tony’s guns, I figured it was the opportunity I had been hinting at. We got a couple of cute shots.

Okay, here’s the color version of Steambunny (silly name, but it’s sort of stuck). I made a greeting card and postcard. More stuff later. Just a little over a week until the con and I shouldn’t be doing this online stuff, but inspiration struck. So, back to the inking.

Just a reminder that we are going to converge on the steam plant
this Saturday in steamy garb,
take photos and eat pie!
Yes, there will be pie!
So, join us for a few hours of steampunkery and pie!
Feel free to bring pie if you are so inclined.
Dress warmly. I'm not sure if the plant is heated.

Screw-on head
Well, another busy weekend. On Saturday we drove down to Portland to drop in on The Lovecraft Film Festival. We met lots of new folks and talked about Steamcon. I got to chat briefly with the guest of honor, Mike Mignola creator of “ Hellboy” and “The Amazing Screw-on Head”. If you haven’t read or seen “The Amazing Screw-on Head” you really should. It’s delightfully wacky and extremely steampunk. Mike said that he wasn’t aware of steampunk at the time, but now he’s sure it’s his universe. Though he doesn’t have anymore Screw-on Head stories to tell, he said he’s planning on revisiting that universe. I for one, am truly looking forward to that.

We drug friends off to the Rheinlander for hearty German food and then drove back to Seattle.

On Sunday we attended a show at the The Little Red Studio. I’d never been there before, but I’m completely charmed by the space. It’s wonderful. We heard Magpie Killjoy’s confrontational accordion stylings, and Schrodinger’s Cat (I believe, since there was no announcement) playing the cello in a very unique manner. Jill Tracy, accompanied by Nathan Johnstone and Paul Mercer was amazing as always. Unfortunately, being a school night, we had to leave before The Ghosts Project, but it was still a very lovely evening.
