At Orycon last weekend, three of the winning entries were steampunk. I apologize for not having the names of the others, but the child’s winner was very cute


and the winning entry in the group category is part of the crew of the Andoria.
I am quite proud to say that I was the grand prize winner with Widget the automaton.

So helix90 and I went to Dragoncon in Atlanta last weekend. It was a lot of fun. We attended a few panels in the well dressed altered history track, mostly the steampunk themed ones. We went to a great steampunk meetup where we coerced everyone into taking a huge group shot. We talked about steampunk and Steamcon to everyone who came up and asked. One guy I expected to ask about steampunk actually asked "What's with all the little hats?". Lol!
There were many fabulous costumes. We took lots of photos. You can see them here The steampunk starts about half way through.
I started a group for just steampunk at Dragoncon like last year, but I seem to have been beaten to the punch by this group.

The Abney Park show on Sunday was phenomenal as usual. Great show! Great acts! Many wonderfully dressed up people! helix90 and I helped with the merchandise table, and talked up Steamcon to everyone. I was very remiss in getting photos of all the wonderful attire, but it was a very small venue and I selfishly watched almost all of the concert for once. I did get a few pics of the band. On Saturday, helix90, Lawrence and I ventured into Georgetown to explore Artopia, an arts festival. We found it to be a bit too eclectic a mix of styles, but there were a few interesting things. We handed out flyers for Steamcon and talked to folks. After about an hour in the sun, we sought refuge in Calamity Jane's fine establishment. We took a few photos of our adventures. It was a busy steampunk weekend for us. I took a few pictures. Some from the Steampunk Soiree and a few at the Clang Bang Cabaret.

I had a wonderful weekend sitting part of a table at Emerald City Comicon, thanks to a kind offer from winterjaye. I sold a little art, got lots of wonderful and encouraging compliments on my art, and promoted Steamcon. I even went ahead and signed up for my own table in artists’ alley next year. I took a few pics of some of the steamfolk who came by and some other good costumes. You can see them all here.
We were near a table that had a huge contingent of booth bunnies who were literally dressed as bunnies in black vinyl. Every now and then they would block the aisle for a photo opportunity and I kept saying that we really needed to do that too. When a cute brunette in goggles came up to the table and admired Tony’s guns, I figured it was the opportunity I had been hinting at. We got a couple of cute shots.

helix90 and I went to Radcon, a small convention in Pasco WA last weekend. I was on three Steampunk panels and held a small meetup/photo op. I also brought my latest gun mod: "Big Baby", an aetheric discombobulator. It was well received. I'll be writing up the "how to" about it soon. This past weekend, helix90 and I fired up the chronosphere and ventured into the future to tour Steamcon’s lovely venue, the Seattle Airport Marriot, when our fellow time travelers were gathering. Images of this auspicious trip can be found here. We met many fellow chrononauts and airship crew, and even more who expressed an interest in joining in the merriment at the next opportunity. There was a wonderful discussion of steampunk outfitting in which yours truly was asked to join the esteemed panel and impart my humble knowledge. The Vendor’s Bazaar contained a surprising amount of steampunk regalia and weaponry. Our trip was brief but enlightening. We look forward to hosting our steamposium in October and hope that all of you are gearing up for it, as it were.
