Wow, I am so jealous of this couple. Pictures at the club and several long standing members attending the reception. A dream come true. Damn, I miss that place.
Thanks to those who sold stuff, bought stuff or just browsed stuff yesterday. It was a lot of fun and we seemed to do pretty well. Also, considering the 85 degree weather outside it was a very cool place to be. There seems to be a lot of people who want to see it happen again, so I'll be thinking on that. I'll let you know very soon if our steampunk goblin market will reappear in September.
Do you ever feel like you are looking in all the wrong places for steampunk attire?
Well, a bunch of us are purging our closets and you can reap the benefits!
Clothing, jewelry, shoes, crafts and more will be for sale or possibly even barter.
On Saturday July 11th at the All Pilgrim’s Church (lower level) we will be holding a Steampunk swapmeet/jumble/garage sale/ flea market thingy. It is the unifying theme for this event, but not a strict parameter. We are sort of time traveling sales folk, which also fits the genre, don’t you think?
July 11th
All Pilgrim’s Church (lower level), 500 Broadway E, Seattle, WA 98102.
Noon to 6:00 PM.
Admission is free.
(All the selling spaces are sold out, so no more inquiries please)
We had fun at the Everyday is Halloween Party at the Vogue on Saturday. After traipsing around all day in Victorian garb for the steamrats train trip,
helix90 wasn't up for dressing up, but I of course could not resist. I decided on a new variation of my Queen of Hearts since it would take no explanation. I'm not sure I'm happy with how the make up came out, but I think it worked overall. The night started out slow, but it was quite crowded towards the end of the night. I had the extreme misfortune of being the first contestant. One of the judges told me afterwards that I had very high marks and they loved my outfit, but that did hurt me, as the audience wasn't warmed up yet. All the winners were couples. A couple wearing almost nothing but Starbucks aprons won for their "Naked Baristas". They could have benefited from
helix90's much better title of "Bare-istas". The couple as Death and Dream were good. I was not impressed by Marie Antoinette and her Musketeer. I told the judges that I feel the audience participation portion of the vote, was really pointless. It generally means you have the most friends, not the best costume. At least they didn't make us dance.

A couple more pics. I didn't take very many this time.

Anybody else going to this? I'm thinking about it, but I don't know if I'll have the energy after the train outing. Also, I have no idea what to wear to an unthemed costume event! If enough other steamfolk are planning on attending, I could do that. If I'm feeling really ambitious I could do Scarlett, Violet or Kelly. Any opinions?
Just in case you haven't heard, the steamrats are planning a gathering this Saturday June 13th, beginning at 11:00 AM. Steampunk attire is encouraged. Anyone is welcome to join us.

helix90 and I won't be able to attend, but I hope you'll go have fun for us!
As promised pics from Halloween. It was a very crowded night, with many interesting costumes. Of course we didn't get nearly as many photos as we should have. Ah well. Click on the pic to see the gallery.
I must say, last night was too much fun! So much Dr Who fanaticism! Great costumes and fabulous decorations!
My silly costume concept seemed to go over well, so the hour and a half of make-up was worthwhile. At least one person asked if I was one of the kittens from the box before I even explained it! Yay! I was told that I should have brought a box of kittens, but
helix90 said that would be better for Hellboy night. At one point I was looking at the long ponytail of a Doctor in front of me, so I began batting it. Cats will be cats.
"The universe isn't going to end just because the Doctor dances" Or even if several of them do at once. I wish I gotten that picture. I did get some other good ones though, so click on the pic to go check out the whole gallery.

Last Thursday we attended Moulin Rouge Night at the Mercury. It was a lot of fun. There were nibbles, decorations, door prizes and great eclectic music. One of my friends won a door prize and it was a box of mint chocolate Frangos. Yum! I got a few photos. The contest for “lady in the best theme attire” was a very close race. They had us all dance and eliminated people during the song. One young lady in a tank top and jeans was quite insulted when they asked her to leave. Unclear on the concept apparently. When the song ended it came down to me,
mineke and one other girl. The applause levels were too close to tell. They finally eliminated the other girl, but it was still so close. In the end
mineke won and I was the runner up. Thanks again to my cheering squad. You guys put up a valiant fight! I spoke to the dapper gentleman who won “gentleman in best theme attire” and he was a little disappointed that his outfit won. He didn’t feel it was up to snuff. I pointed out that it also was partly based on dancing ability, and he had a definite edge there. Great night. Thanks to all who set it up and let’s do it again real soon!
Looking for a place to wear your steampunk finery?
Moulin Rouge Night at the Mercury!
The time period is 1900 and perfect for some of the flashier
haberdashery and sartorial attire.
See you there!

I've uploaded our photos from the Vampire Masquerade Ball. Not very many, but a few good ones. Enjoy!
It was fun although my stomach decided to be a nuisance for the first half of the night. Bleh. Apologies if I was a little quiet. Lots of folks were dressed up. I tried to get a few unlikely battles going but didn't manage much. Oh well. Pictures are in
helix90's Flickr account. Click on the pic.
My pics are up from last Saturday at the Merc. Not very many this time.
