Does anyone know of a charitable organization that could use 23 copies of this book?

RIP: George MacDonald Fraser

Fan
I have to stop and take a moment to mourn the passing of an author who had a great impact upon my life. George MacDonald Fraser passed on January 2nd. His book, The Pyrates was very influential in furthering my obsession with pirates in general and the possibilities of pirate costuming specifically. It introduced me to the word “snogging”, and the phrase “sink me fer a lubber else!” His screenplays for The Three Musketeers and The Four Musketeers are easily some of my all time favorites, and my love of Musketeers can most likely be blamed on them.

Wicked?

Book
Due to a really slow temp job with no computer access, I got some reading done last week. So I was wondering if anyone else read “Wicked”. I found it a miserable thing to slog through, but I stubbornly did. I had hoped it would plug some of the holes left by the musical, but the stories really bear little resemblance to each other. I found the musical sweet if flawed, but the book really didn’t have the same feel. The book failed to tell a very coherent story, skipping ahead in time without finishing any particular timeline. The author was very interested in politics and religion without ever thoroughly examining either. I found myself wondering why it was a Times best seller. I felt embarrassed every time a coworker noticed what I was reading and asked if I liked it. No, I’d admit, but I’m stubborn. I was just wondering if I was the only one.
