For my birthday this year, I’ll be attending Convergence in Portland but I’d still like to do something in Seattle. I was thinking that the idea of an Emerald Citizen event would be perfect since emerald is my birth stone and Seattle is the Emerald City. I’ve talked about the Esmerelda costume I want to do based loosely on the citizens of the Emerald City from the musical Wicked. There was some interest in joining me so I need to figure out who is interested and when would work best for you, hence… a poll!

Now a little about outfits, since life needs more excuses to dress up!
Take a look at the photos below to see what the characters look like (You can ignore Glinda and Elfaba). Hair and skin tones are NOT green, just the clothing. Any shade of green is acceptable, not just emerald. Go look in thrift stores and second hand shops. The 80’s seem to have had a lot of great green clothing. The more outrageous…the better! Green tinted glasses are quite important. We’ll be searching for a cheap outlet for those, but if you find any good ones, let me know.
I was thinking we should go to a few places for photo ops. One that I’ve found with a fabulous neon sign is “Emerald City Smoothies”. If you know of any other “Emerald”, “Emerald City” or “Green” places that would be good for photos, let me know!
I haven’t thought of a good spot for dinner yet, so if anyone has any ideas, I’d love to hear about them. Green themed would be a bonus.
