Wow, I am so jealous of this couple. Pictures at the club and several long standing members attending the reception. A dream come true. Damn, I miss that place.
Very tired. Very happy. I have a really busy week ahead so my real trip report and photo uploading will have to wait until next week, as hard as that is going to be.
I am so glad we went. It was very good to say goodbye. The Adventurer's Club will always be in the best of my memories and Friday night may have been the best night there ever for me.
A few quick hi-lights:
Emil Bleehall Senior, two maids and two butlers each night! Dueling Graves!!! (or is that dualing?)
Goggles are the perfect accessory
I got me the role of Greta in the Radio play (something I've never done before and there is most likely video footage out there, and tons of photos! I'm not sure that's a good thing...)
I'm now Hathaway Brown's rival
I adopted three more cute young girls
Samantha had me wear her glove for a photo
Met lots of fellow fans and had great conversations
I managed not to cry but almost did at the Christmas show
Those of you who have been know what I'm talking about. The rest... well, I'll work on a report later.
Kungaloosh!

A while back I posted this about the closure of one of my favorite places, the Adventurer’s Club at WDW in Orlando. After lots of shuffling and agonizing, my husband and I made plans for one last trip. We’ll be there this Friday and Saturday. Of course with all the press and attention the closure has gotten, the crowds have been thick, so it’s looking like a very packed and not so fun adventure. I still want to go, but part of me is dreading it. I am rather saddened that it’s going to be a hassle to go and say goodbye. If only it made a difference to the powers that be. If only they would decide not to close it. See? We love this place. Well, be that as it may, I will have a chance to go and see the place again. It’s going to be difficult for me to let go. I’ve been going for years and it’s got a special place in my heart. As Samantha Sterling has been saying there recently:
“Don’t frown because it’s over, smile because it happened.”
A few memories to share.

One of my favorite places in the world will cease to exist on September 28th, 2008. Walt Disney World is closing Pleasure Island forever and with it the Adventurers Club, one of the most amazing places I’ve ever been. It’s one of the highlights of any trip to WDW for me. The club is frozen in time in the year 1937, and they are holding their new members open house. The interior of the Club is a marvel of detail, with photos, masks and memorabilia from all over the world. You could spend hours looking at them all. You can find yourself carrying on a conversation with a Yakoose (A Yak who had a slight run in with an upholsterer) or Babylonia, an ancient stone goddess. At some point you get inducted into the Club, taught the club song, and salute. Kungaloosh! The cast was always great, quick witted and very entertaining. The constant rotation of roles from night to night could make one’s head spin. The show was always the same and yet always different. It was like being in a familiar movie that was somehow unique every time you saw it. Sometimes you even found yourself in the spotlight being serenaded by a dashing pilot, trying to keep up in an adventurous radio play or being asked to do the bump and grind. No matter what happened, by the end of the night, I always found myself singing along, clapping and grinning like a fool. Maybe it was Pamelia’s Punch, but more likely it was the simple pleasure of this enchanted club. A small hole in time, a friendly place that always welcomed me back, I will always have fond memories of the Club. If you have been, then I think you know what I mean. Kungaloosh!
I suspect that it won’t make any difference to the powers that be, but please Go sign the petition to save the Adventurers Club!

(My husband the night he was dubbed "Shifty McGee" the club lawyer)
